What is Healing Trees?
Healing Trees is a global collaborative movement that brings society together to honor those who have died from COVID 19. How will we make it happen? Through the planting of more than 5 million trees around the world.
We are a movement led by the San Ramón Carbon Neutral Foundation, a Costa Rican non-profit organization that from a small region in Costa Rica wants to take this message of unity and solidarity beyond the borders of this country.
Let us unite to plant trees as a symbol of life, peace and hope. Our goal is that together, from different parts of the world, we create this memorial for loved ones who are no longer with us and live a process to heal our wounds.
This pandemic has shown us how much we depend on each other and how fragile we are. Unfortunately, COVID 19 has caused us to lose more than 5 million people; regardless of age, race, social class, religion, country or gender.
We believe in the urgent need to work on what unites us as a global society in order to move forward. We are a single family that lives in this home we call Earth, the only one we have so far, and what better way to make this memorial than by contributing to its ecosystem.
With the growth of the tree, we also highlight the inseparable relationship between people and the planet; as a sign of respect for the victims of the virus and commitment to future generations. We want to unite society in planting trees, but also in caring for them to guarantee that they will have a long life.
Another of the lessons learned during the pandemic is that ecosystems require care, attention and support to prosper, both environmental and social systems. Our campaign crosses silos by providing opportunities for individuals, governments and organizations to engage in regeneration of the planet and its people.
The pandemic also made us realize how important food safety is. This initiative promotes, in addition to the planting of tree species native to each country or region, the planting of fruit trees to have nutrients available to all. The opportunity to bring communities together for a moment of shared regeneration can (literally and figuratively) plant the seeds of hope and peace, for a prosperous future, by reconnecting with the living systems we are a part of and must care for.
Tree planting in urban areas will also contribute to people’s physical and mental health and thus to the well-being of society.
Our purpose is to cause people, communities, companies and nations to pause; Let’s recognize the lost lives of friends, coworkers, brothers, uncles and parents who we fired for this pandemic, let’s reflect and heal together.
We invite everyone in the world to join this movement and spread the message. We promote the global union and you have the most important role: to organize to plant trees on May 4, 2022.
We invite you to register on the form at www.healingtrees.org to receive more information and stay united until that date.
